In the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 5, 2017, Evelyn Mary Sacripant, age 98, of Golden Hills Nursing, New Castle PA, passed away in her sleep. She was also known as Evelyn L. Sacripant.

Born May 24, 1919, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Fredrico and Elvira (Guidugli) Sacripant. After graduating from New Castle High School in 1938, Evelyn briefly worked in a dental office, and for many years was in charge of payroll at Mooney Bros Trucking & Supply. She also worked in the Lawrence County Courthouse Register and Recorder’s Office and later proudly served in administration at the District Attorney’s Office, from which she retired in 1984. She was known to be a dependable and loyal employee in all of her positions. Following retirement, she was a volunteer at the Third United Presbyterian Church and a candy striper volunteer at the Jameson Hospital.

Evelyn belonged to Wimodausis, the Prime Timers, and was a lifelong member of Third Presbyterian Church and the True Blue Bible Class. She loved reading, travel and the theatre (attending plays in New York City, the Jersey Coast, Ohio and the New Castle Playhouse).

Evelyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Edith Mae (Sacripant) Mooney and Rose Marie (Sacripant) Mooney, and brothers, Ralph Sacripant and Julius Sacripant. Both sisters and her brother Ralph married Mooneys (Sam, Bill & Josie). Family was important to her and she enjoyed the closeness of the Mooney-Sacripant connection.

Evelyn is survived by 5 nieces and nephews, 16 grand nieces and nephews, and over 20 great grand nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by niece, Audrey (Mooney) Cullen, and nephews, Richard Mooney and Warren Mooney Sacripant.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cremation & Funeral Service by Gary S. Silvat. Private burial will take place at Castleview Memorial Park.

The family will have a Celebration of Life in July 2018.
