Michael "Mike" Richard "Rich" Karas

Austintown, OH - On Thursday, October 26, 2017, Michael Richard Karas, age 78, passed away in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman.  He was born on October 7, 1939 in Youngstown to Michael Steven and Mary (Brunski) Karas.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kay (Tully) Karas; children, Michael Timothy of Austintown, Cheryl (Dale) Mauch of Canfield; grandchildren, Dylan Mauch, Christopher Mauch both of Canfield; siblings, Frances Hopkinson of Boardman, Dorothy (Joseph) Joseph of Columbus; cousin "his brother," Richard Evans of Austintown; nieces, nephews and his fuzzy buddy, his cat, Jack.

Michael was a 1958 graduate of Chaney High School.  Afterward he honorably served his country in the United States Army.  His early working life was spent as a Mill Wright at Youngstown Steel Door but his favorite position was being the head custodian at Woodside Elementary School in the Austintown District.  Michael was an avid golfer and member of Sts. Peter & Paul, Holy Apostles Church where his served as a Eucharistic minister, member of their Holy Name Society, frequent volunteer, including Saturday's head grass cutter.

Family to receive friends on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 10 AM until time of the Memorial Service at 11 AM in Crossroads Church, 554 S. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, OH 44509 with Pastor Dave Watkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Michael's name.
