Liberty Twp., Youngstown, OH - On Monday, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God holiday,  January 1, 2018, Rose Saadi, age 85, passed into God's care  after a short illness and stay in Windsor House at Liberty Health Care Center.  Rose was born in Youngstown on August 18, 1932 to Assad and Victoria (Beshara) Saadi.

Rose grew up on the eastside and graduated East High School in 1951.  She attended St. Maron's Church where her father was the cantor until is death.

Rose was employed by the Youngstown Police Department, starting as a civilian clerk-typist on March 1, 1952 and was appointed a policewoman on April 1, 1956.  She worked three weeks in the Juvenile Division before transferring to jail matron until her retirement on April 1, 1985.  Affectionately called Miss Rose" by many women prisoners, Rose rules ward with fairness and a firm hand from her office on the jail's 6th floor.  She did a lot for her prisoners and made sure their cell was "Spotless."

She enjoyed retirement and as an avid football and baseball fan, she rooted for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes.  Rose enjoyed participating in fantasy football with many of her friends, whom she frequently would go out to dinner.  She also enjoyed watching TV and occasionally would derive pleasure from going with her friends to the casino.

She was a loving and caring woman who will be missed by her family and friends.

Rose forever touched the lives of her brother, Joseph Saddi, of Reading, PA; her sister and best friend, Marry Ann (Robert) Walley of Liberty Twp., many nieces, nephews and cousins in Youngstown, PA and AZ.  A special thank you to her brother-in-law, Bob, for all the things he did for her in and outside her home.  She had many great friends, particularly Gaylene Douctre, who visited Rose on a regular basis.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley, who passed away at the age of eight.

The family would like to thank the staff of Windsor House and the Southern Care Hospice for the kind and compassionate care provided to Rose during her illness.

In keeping with Rose's wishes no calling hours will be observed.
