Frances Marie (Franklin) Hopkinson

On Sunday, March 3, 2019, Frances Marie Franklin Hopkinson, age 87, passed away in St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.  She was born in Youngstown, on August 19, 1931 to Michael Karas and Mary (nee Brunski) Karas Koker.

Frances is survived by her sons, Charles (Andrea) Franklin, Ronald Franklin, Richard Franklin all of Boardman, OH; grandchildren, Tina (Kevin) Carzoo of Poland, OH, Kristen Franklin of Cincinnati, OH, Lori Franklin of Boardman, OH; great-grandchildren who lovingly called her "Mossy," Brianna (fiance Keith Clinker) of Poland, OH, Ashlyn Carzoo of Poland, OH, great-grandson, Andrew Carzoo; sister, Dorothy (Joe) Joseph of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law, Kay Karas of Austintown, OH, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert F. Hopkinson; son, Raymond Franklin and brother, Richard Karas.

Private family burial to be observed.  Frances will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Herbert, in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In her youth, Frances volunteered as a candy striper and later she gave her time to the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. She was a member of St. Christine Parish but the most important endeavor she undertook was the role of a single mother.
