Larry D. Ashburn Sr.

Youngstown, OH - On Saturday, February 3, 2018, Larry David Ashburn Sr., age 70, passed away at St. Elizabeth's Youngstown Hospital after a short illness.  He was born in Warren, OH on March 29, 1947 to Hubert and Violet (Whitehead) Ashburn.

Larry is survived by his companion, siblings, Dora Gumina, Jean Bremner, and Dan Ashburn. Children, Anthony Cesario, Larry Ashburn Jr., David Ashburn, and Danielle Seitz, thirteen grandchildren and his loving dog Mini Pearl. Larry also leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. 

Larry proudly served his country as a corporal in the United States Marine Corp, as a captain in the United States Army, and as a sergeant for the Army National Guard. He believed every day was just another day in paradise, that every meal was a feast, each day a holiday and every paycheck was a fortune. Larry was a great man. He was a great listener and always had time or made time to lend an ear to anyone who needed to talk and as he enjoyed good conversation, no subject was off limits to him. He always did his best to be kind and patient and to give words of encouragement to his family and friends. Larry had a great laugh and loved sharing in laughter and spending time with friends and family. He was very understanding to everyone and always wished he could do more and help more in some way. 

Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Grubbs.
