Marilou (Malagisi) Rusu

Marilou Malagisi Rusu, age 86, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, surrounded by her family.  She was born July 9, 1932 in Youngstown to Francesco and Theresa (Berardinelli) Malagisi.

Marilou graduated East High School then went on to marry her love,  Samuel Rusu, on February 10, 1951.  It was then that she started on her first and what she said was her most important endeavor in life, raising her 11 children.  Sadly, Samuel passed in November 1994.

Marilou was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family’s needs ahead of her own.  She was a fantastic cook and loved doing crafts. She found great joy in teaching her children how to cook and everything she knew.

Marilou's door was always open and at times, between her children and their friends (who she regarded as her own), you could find 20 or more people there for dinner daily.  She retired as a cook from Omni Manor, was a life-long member of St. Patrick's Church in Youngstown and volunteered for many area charities

She leaves to cherish her memories her children. Sam Rusu, Bonnie (Rick) Lewis, Ken (Lori) Rusu Terry (Nancy) Rusu, Tim Rusu, George (Robin) Rusu, Bill Rusu, Monica Rusu, Joe (Susan) Rusu, Melissa (Mark) Settle and Susan Rusu; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard Malagisi and Delores Esposito

Besides her parents and husband, Marilou was also preceded in death by her newborn son, Michael, siblings, Frank Malagisi and Phyllis Abruzzi.
