Samuel Melvin "Pooh Bear" Raver

On Friday, June 1, 2018, Samuel Melvin "Pooh Bear" Raver, age 49, passed away shortly after arriving home with his family from a stay in UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh.  Sam wanted his last breaths to be with his loving family and pets in the home they shared.  He was born in Daytona Beach, FL on November 11, 1968 to Douglas Earl and Star MaDonna (Vaughn) Raver.

Sam is survived by his son; Ryan Samuel Alford; step-son, Stehpen Koukis of Farrell, PA; siblings, James Coughlin of Seattle, WA, Rachel (Andre Floyd) Raver of Farrell, PA, Matthew Raver of Panama City, FL; step-mother, Sally Raver of FL; uncles, David Vaughn of Columbus, OH, Christopher Vaughn of IN, Daniel Vaughn of IL, Kenneth (Kate) Vaughn of Transfer, PA, Dr. Wayne Raver of Flint, MI, Benjamin Raver of TN, Terry Raver of Kissmee, FL; aunt, Lois Martin of Flint, MI; nephew, Raymond (Alina Archie) Raver and their son, Raymond Raver Jr, who were always there to help Sam through out his illness, other family to include nieces, nephews and cousins.  Last but certainly not least his best buddy and sometimes sleeping companion, his pet cat, "Stinky Doodles."

Besides his parents Sam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Grace (Kemmer) Raver; maternal grandparents, Kenneth Raymond and Illume Pearl "Kathleen" (Lyon) Vaughn; aunt, Kaye Tolliver; cousin, Bradley Raver and special pet dog, "Pooh Bear."

Friends are invited to the Celebration of Life Service in Sam's honor this Friday, June 8, 2018 starting at 5 PM at the Farrell VFW, 1233 Idaho St., Farrell, PA 16121.
