Susanne (O'Shanick) Avril

Susanne O. Avril, 93, of Hermitage PA, passed away at 9:15 PM on July 12, 2019 at Hospitality Care Center of Hermitage, after a brief illness surrounded by her family.

Susanne was born December 3, 1925, in Sharon PA and was a daughter of Michael and Susanna (Vaskanin) O'Shanick. She was a member of the 1943 graduating class from Sharon High School in Sharon PA.

Her husband of 68 years, Paul Julian Avril, whom she married July 15, 1950, passed away December 26, 2018.

Susanne worked as a secretary at Camp Reynolds, Transfer PA before marrying Paul. She became the secretary for their family business Keystone Garage and Machine Shop, Farrell PA.

Susanne was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage PA.

She was a genuinely kind, caring person who always thought of others and helped anyone in need. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren. She was locally known as the "Angel Lady" as she handed out small angels that she personally made to anyone she thought needed one.

She enjoyed going to car shows with her husband, traveling in their converted coach to visit friends and relatives and watching game shows and sports. She was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Shaquille O'Neil and Dale Earnhardt.

Throughout her years, she was a member of the United Methodist Women's Club and Eastern Star.

She is survived by 2 sons, David (Susan) of Scottsdale, AZ and Robert (Susan) of Jamestown, PA; 2 daughters, Susan of Phoenix, AZ and Paula (Mark) of Phoenix, AZ. 4 grandchildren, Robert, Ryan, Jonathan and Andrew. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Susanne was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
