McDonald, OH - On Thursday, May 24, 2018, Valerie Sue (Gillespie) Helco, age 47, passed away peacefully, at Briarfield Manor in Austintown. Val Sue was born in Warren on December 6, 1970 to Richard C. Gillespie and Nancy (Hartel) Gillespie Worley.

Val Sue is survived by her four beloved children, Nicholas John Helco, age 18, Jared Kenneth Helco, age 17, Jenna Christine Helco, age 12, Kayla Jade Helco, age 11 all of McDonald; father, Richard C. (Loraine O.) Gillespie of Andover; mother, Nancy Worley of Newton Falls; brother, Brett Gillespie of Warren; step-son, Michael Helco of Columbus, OH; aunts, Sally Moore of Newton Falls and Marianne Switz of Hudson.
Val Sue was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl and Avia Gillespie, Harold and Margaret Hartel.
Val grew up in Newton Falls and graduated from Newton Falls High School. Early in life she was employed as an assembler for Packard Electric. She went on to earn an Associates Degree from the University of Akron and Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing in 2015 from Kent State University. In the short time between her graduation and illness Val worked in a local nursing home as an RN. But with all her accomplishments, Val's most important endeavor in life, above all, was being the best Mom she could to her children who she loved with all her heart.
Family to receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 10 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at Noon in the Newton Falls United Methodist Church, 336 Ridge Rd., Newton Falls, OH 44444.
