Youngstown's Eastside - After a short illness on Sunday, March 11, 2018, Willie Smith, age 69, passed away in Heritage Manor. Willie was born in Youngstown, OH on July 5, 1948 to Willie H. and Mazrene (Phifer) Smith.
Willie is survived by his children, Curtis Smith, Kevin Smith both of Portland, ME; siblings, Harvey Taylor of AL, Herman Taylor of Youngstown, Frances Taylor of Liberty Twp, Ethel "Pinky" Smith of Austintown; close niece, Shelly Taylor; close nephews, Mark Taylor, Shaheed Abdul, LaVail Taylor; many more nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Willie was preceded in death by his son, Omar Croom.
Willie honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Early in his life he worked in the steel mills until their closure then as a fork lift operator with a large frozen food distributor. At the same time, Willie was an avid flea market buff and had a permanent stand at the Four Seasons Flea & Farm Market for almost 30 years. He met many people here and loved the interaction and social aspect that Four Seasons gave him.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Willie's life will be held at 11 am on Thursday March 22, 2018 in Living Testimony Ministries, 34 Jacobs Rd., Youngstown, OH 44505 with Pastor Alfred Cooper officiating.
