Angel Daye, 67 entered eternal rest on April 28, 2020 at approximately 10:00 AM. Angel was born in North Carolina and raised in Youngstown since she was three. She attended The Rayen School (class of ’70) and later retired from Youngstown City Schools after many proud years as a Secretary. She loved her position and all of the students in all of the schools over the years are still ‘her kids’. If asked, she considered herself a lifelong Tiger as a resident of the North Side, and was a fan of the many art and athletic events the schools would use to showcase the talents of our city’s youth.
Angel was always the first person to start dancing at a wedding reception or sometimes the grocery store aisle if music was playing. She was often sought out for advice from her many relatives and friends because she always kept people in line with the truth. Her favorite way to spend time was reading or watching movies, and would often go on long marathons indulging in the stories the world offered.
She will forever be remembered with love by her daughters, Ja’Van and Jera Daye, both of Youngstown; her grandchildren, Taylor and Phelan Johnson, of Columbus; her sisters, Clara Daye of Youngstown and Brenda Gray of Akron; Aunt and Uncle Ruby and Bobby McCoy of Youngstown; her half-brothers, Bruce (Lynette) Ford of Columbus and Gary Ford of Jackson, MS; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a neighborhood of ‘her kids’.
Angel stressed to her family that she did not want formal services of any kind following her homegoing and her wishes will be respected. To celebrate Angel, please remember the joy she brought to this world over a favorite meal or with a favorite song as she would have loved.
