Barbara "Bobbie" (Melewski) Alexander

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara "Bobbie" (Melewski) Alexander on July 14, 2026, at the age of 66, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on December 16, 1959, the beloved daughter of Raymond R. Melewski and Margaret Lehnerd Melewski Micco.

Bobbie is survived by her loving husband, Fred R. Alexander, who she married on February 2, 1984. She also leaves a cherished son, Fred Alexander; siblings, Ray (Fran) Melewski, MaryAnne LoBosco, Sandy (Robert) Rodino, and many cherished family and friends.

Bobbie was a 1978 graduate of Ursuline High School and dedicated her professional life to children as a teacher's aide and librarian at St. Anthony's School in Youngstown, The Montessori School of Mahoning Valley, and Youngstown Developmental Center (YDC). She established a reading program at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Niles and was recognized for its educational value and acknowledged by the Niles Tribune. A cause close to Bobbie's heart was Sight for All United for which she proudly participated in fundraising efforts, believing that the gift of sight could change lives.

Even during the last few months of her life, Bobbie continued to care for others with the same love, kindness, and dedication she had shown throughout her life. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her great-nieces and nephews. She loved them with all her heart and cherished every moment with them. She was a constant source of love, guidance, laughter, and comfort, creating memories that they will carry with them forever. The bond that they shared was a testament to her generous spirit and the unconditional love she gave so freely to her family. Bobbie enjoyed the sun, the beach, gardening, crafts, and reading.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her stepfather, Dominick Micco, and brother-in-law, Chris LoBosco.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 23, 2026, St. Mary Magdalene Parish/St. Christine's Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave, Youngstown, OH 44511.

Bobbie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
