On Friday July, 3, 2026, Carletta Diane Calhoun, lovingly known as "Sporty Bee," age 79, of McDonald, OH, passed away peacefully at Mercy Health, Youngstown. She was born June 7, 1947, in Warren, OH, to George Griffin and Liliemae Griffin-Baldridge. Carletta lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
She is survived by her cherished children: Amy Calhoun of McDonald, OH, and her bonus daughter Mary Graham of Youngstown, OH. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Dontay Miller, Donovan Miller, Leona Cofield, Joelle Richardson, Deslyn Miller, Jeremiah Kitchen, and Joshua Kitchen; as well as her great-grandchildren Makiya, Donovan Jr., Dontay Jr., Braylen, Kayliah, Keith Jr., Khyden, Josiah, Kalin, Azariah, Kendall, Raelynn, and Dominic. Carletta also leaves behind a great-great-grandson, Jonathan; her siblings Annie Marie Baldridge, Artie Baldridge, Lillie Mae Baldridge, Walter Baldridge, Chester Baldridge; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Carletta poured her heart into her family. She was known for her kindness and helpful nature. She had a passion for interior decorating that brought beauty to every space she touched. Her cooking was legendary among those she loved—family holidays were especially meaningful times when she brought everyone together with warmth and delicious meals.
Her professional journey reflected her adaptability and dedication. Carletta began her career at Packard Electric in Warren, where she worked for approximately ten years. Seeking new challenges later in life, she transitioned to serving as a correctional officer at Columbiana County Jail before ultimately retiring as a secretary at Shepherd of All God's Children Childcare. In each role she held throughout her career, Carletta left an indelible mark with her hard work and commitment.
Besides her parents, Carletta was preceded in death by her beloved daughters Sonia Miller and Yvette Miller; grandchildren Dezmon Baugh and Juanita Gilliam; and sisters Georgia Mae Griffin and Barbara Baldridge. Despite these profound losses, Carletta remained a pillar of strength for her family.
Carletta’s life was one of love for family and service to others, but above all, her love and devotion to God. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm at Highway Tabernacle, 3000 S Raccoon Rd, Youngstown, OH 44515. A Repass will take place at the same location following the Celebration of Life from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 pm.
