Carol Rae (Watkins) Garland

On Monday. September 23, 2024, Carol Rae Garland, age 82, passed away at Hospice of the Valley, following a brief illness. Carol was born on June 12, 1942, in Warren OH to Clarence and Helen (Coupland) Watkins.

She was a 1960 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School. After graduating, Carol had a long career as a medical transcriptionist. 

Carol was an avid reader and had a passion for horses, music, and baking. She liked playing cards and working on puzzles. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, leaving her family with many beautiful mementos.

Carol was a loving sister, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She will be greatly missed by her brother Tom (Pat) Watkins; her children, Troy Garland and Kim (Mark) Bevan; granddaughters, Karlie (Dustin) Williams, Emily (Frank) Geidner, and Courtnie (Chris) Horning; and 3 great-grandchildren. Carol will also be missed and cherished by her many friends and family members.

Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roland Delbert Garland whom she married on February 18, 1961. They spent 61 wonderful years together where they enjoyed camping, hiking, and being outside.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for the comfort they provided during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank nurses Becca and Carly at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth for the care they gave Carol in her last days.

As per Carol’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
