On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Carol Lynne Gintert, age 68, of Leavittsburg, OH passed away peacefully at home. She was born on June 12, 1957, to Faustian and Ruth (Ranttila) Rapczak, and grew up in Newton Falls, OH.
Carol loved going to the races and beating Dan in fishing competitions in their backyard. Before illness gradually changed so much of daily life, she treasured visiting her daughter and grandchildren in Texas. The local kids who came over to ride on the racetrack named her “Nurse Carol,” for the care she showed them in patching up their scrapes and bruises. Carol was one of the kindest, most honest, and forgiving people you could ever meet, and her family will always remember her laugh and the smile she so freely shared.
Carol is survived by the love of her life, tireless caretaker, and lifelong fishing buddy, Daniel Gedeon of Leavittsburg; daughter, Ashley (Jason Romans) Gumino of Katy, TX; stepchildren, Angela “Angie” (Monty) Josett of Freedom, OH, Dan(Grace) Gedeon of Southington, OH; stepchildren, Edward (Cydney) Gintert of Champion, OH and Stacy (Craig) McDivitt of Southington; grandchildren, AdrianGumino, Addilynne Gumino, Arianna Gumino all of TX, Jett Gedeon, Juni Gedeon both of Southington, Mason McDivitt, Mack McDivitt both of Southington; brother, Samuel Rapczak of Gallatin, TN; sister-in-law, Kathy Rapczak of Newton Falls, as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Carol was also preceded in death by her brother, David Rapczak. In keeping with Carol’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.
A celebration of her life will be planned and announced at a later date.
