Charles Melvin Draa

Atty. Charles M. Draa, affectionately known as "Chuck," of Boardman, Ohio, passed away on June 28, 2026, in Poland, Ohio, after a brief illness. He was born on November 20, 1955, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Roy L. Draa and Emma J. (Fedor) Draa.

Chuck was the cherished husband of Dr. Virginia Ann Bendel Draa for 49 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and dedication, raising two children, Aaron (Sabrina Rummell) and Natalie (Derek DiTullio). He was a devoted Poppa to his grandchildren Addison, Jared, and Samuel. Chuck also shared a close bond with his siblings John (Marsha) Draa and Elaine (Keith) Hamilton and was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of North High School in Youngstown in 1973, Chuck pursued higher education at Bowling Green State University. It was there that he met his future wife, Ginny, through a campus ministry group. He graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. On June 18 of that same year, Chuck and Ginny were united in marriage in Middletown, Ohio—a union that would span nearly five decades.

Chuck’s professional journey led him to earn his Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo Law School. After being admitted to the Ohio bar, he began practicing law at Roberts and Roberts LPA in Youngstown in 1981. In 1988, he established his own law practice in Canfield, where he continued to serve clients until his passing. Beyond his legal work, Chuck shared his expertise by teaching continuing legal education seminars and Hospitality Law at Youngstown State University. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom as he led numerous Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and seminars throughout his life.

Faith was central to Chuck’s life. He had a deep passion for the Lord and dedicated himself to various ministries over the years. He served as Director of Children’s Ministries at Calvary Assembly of God (now Bridge of Hope Church) in Boardman for 12 years. Alongside Ginny, he ministered as a Chi Alpha Campus Pastor at Youngstown State University for 11 years, focusing on outreach to international students. Most recently, Chuck was actively involved with Mission 330, a community outreach ministry.

Chuck’s legacy is one of faith, service, and devotion to family and community. His impact will be felt by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family will receive condolences on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12 PM to 2 PM at Bridge of Hope Church, located at 7580 Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, OH 44512. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 PM.
