On Thursday, November 28, 2024, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer, Dominic Lippillo, Jr., of Struthers, OH, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Hospice House in Poland, OH. He was 69 years old.
Dominic was born on September 7, 1955, and raised in Youngstown, the son of Dominic Lippillo, Sr. and Enez (Zublena) Fanone.
Dominic graduated in 1973 from Chaney High School then began his career at Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He then relocated his family to Detroit, MI, where he took on the role of plant manager at D.Q.R Packaging. This move allowed him to gain the managerial skills needed to flourish in leadership positions throughout his career as a plant manager, foreman, and supervisor. In 2018 Dominic retired from PTC Alliance in Beaver Falls, PA, as a maintenance supervisor.
During his working years, Dominic dedicated his time to his family. He was actively involved in his children’s interests whether it was coaching little league baseball teams, keeping score for his sons’ bowling league, serving as a parent chaperone for high school band competitions, and supporting his children through ballet and music lessons. Dominic made his work-life balance appear effortless as he made it a priority for his family to feel loved, supported, and valued.
As a father, Dominic taught his children not to be afraid of working hard, to prioritize education, to become resilient in difficult situations, not to take yourself too seriously, and to always help your family and neighbors. His dedication to his family continued with his grandchildren. No matter the situation, he would not miss an event for a grandchild, engaged them in conversation about their interests, and took the time to make them smile. Above all, his sense of humor filled their home with laughter, joy, and love.
Throughout his life Dominic was intellectually curious, and he used his curiosity to teach himself how to become self-reliant. He was gifted at doing mechanical and electrical work, and home repair projects. In his free time, Dominic enjoyed fishing and tending to his yearly vegetable garden. Retirement brought on new interests including flying drones, gazing at the stars with his telescope, and spending time outside caring for his lawn. He had a deep interest in politics and always enjoyed a healthy debate.
Dominic is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty years, Diane (Tirabassi) Lippillo; his beloved children of whom he was very proud, Tina Lippillo of Boardman, OH; Dominic (Cassandra) Lippillo of Starkville, MS; and Brian (Jessica) Lippillo of Austintown, OH; his five grandchildren with whom he treasured every moment, Hattie and Josie of Starkville, MS, and Delaney, Adalyn, and Nolan of Austintown, OH; his ten brothers and sisters, Millie (Don) Buckles of Vienna, VA; Joanne Fedina of St. Petersburg, FL; Donna (Ted) Evans of Salem, OH; Linda (Bob) Bacha of Boardman, OH; Janice (Bob) Davidson of Boardman, OH; Dina Lippillo of Scranton, PA; Joe (Angie) Lippillo of Girard, OH; Sam (Gail) Lippillo of Boardman, OH; Paul (Denise) of Ozark, MO; Chris (Tammy) of West Des Moines, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, and siblings-in-law.
Besides his parents, Dominic was also preceded in death by in-laws, Tommy Fedina, Samuel P. Tirabassi, Florence Tirabassi, Samuel Tirabassi, Angie Ondo, Patricia Tirabassi and Samuel P. Tirabassi Jr.
