Edward Moore Obituary

Edward M. Moore passed away peacefully on Sunday,  February 1, 2026, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born on May 10, 1937, in Youngstown, OH, to John E. and Edith (Corbett) Moore.

Ed was a graduate of South High School, where he earned All-City recognition in basketball. Although he was skilled on the court, his passion was always set on training and breaking Quarter horses.

Ed began his working life as a manager at the Refrigeration Supply Co. in Youngstown, OH, before pursuing his true passion in the horse world. There, he became well known, widely respected, and admired by many as a legend within the horse community. Over the years, Ed trained and showed many horses, but his favorite was his horse, “Jerry”, a companion who held a special place in his heart.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Donna J. Moore; his daughters, Kimberly (Joseph) DiLallo, Amy (James) Bonneville, and Jody (Joseph) Hood; his stepchildren, Tamala (Larry Badley) Hacon, and Troy (Toni) Fares; his cherished grandchildren, Kristin Hood and Kasey (Shawn) Williams, who blessed him with a great-granddaughter, Maeve. He is also survived by step-grandchildren Terry, Amber, Taren, Tyler, and Todd.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John R. Moore.

Anyone who knew Ed knows that his Sunday dinner was pasta from his favorite local restaurant, Bella Napoli, which he always enjoyed with a nice glass of red wine. He loved spending time with his family and winding down with his favorite TV shows. Ed also enjoyed quizzing people about one of his favorite bands, Chicago, and had a knack for making everyone around him laugh. He was a genuine gentleman with a kind and patient soul, who was always looking out for others, checking in on family and friends, and offering help whenever it was needed. At the same time, he was a stubborn and determined cowboy, embodying the strength, perseverance, and spirit that guided him throughout his life.

Ed will be remembered for his generosity, humor, unwavering love of family, and the lasting mark he left on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

There will be no calling hours per Ed’s wishes. A private gathering to celebrate Ed’s life will be held by his family.

In lieu of flowers, you may make donations in Ed’s name to the equine therapy program Focus Hippothecary Inc., PO Box 772, Canfield,  OH  44406.
