On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Eugene "Gene" Harry Blum, age 74, of Darlington PA, passed away at Heritage Valley Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1951, in Beaver Falls, PA, to Harry and Vera Mae (Popp) Blum.
Gene was a lifelong resident of South Beaver Township, where he spent his life behind the wheel as a dedicated truck driver and proud owner-operator. He had a deep appreciation for his Peterbilt trucks and took great pride in his work on the road.
Outside of work, Gene found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid bird enthusiast with a particular fondness for hummingbirds. He enjoyed fishing and BS'ing with friends—often sharing stories and laughter. A true gadget and tool aficionado, he always had something new to tinker with. One of his favorite traditions was attending the Canfield Fair each year—an all-day event he eagerly anticipated.
Gene is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sherri (Mike) Zibaila of Ohioville, PA, and Jacqueline Callahan of South Beaver, PA. He was a devoted grandfather to Petra Zibaila, Mike Zibaila, Angel Munzek, Austyn Callahan, and Deklan McHenry. He is also survived by his sister Donna (Frank) Hummel; niece Johnna Kirkwood; and special cousin Cindy Dunn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Vera Blum, as well as his uncles, Dutch and Wylie Blum.
A Celebration of Gene's Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the New Galilee Community Event Center. All who knew and loved Gene are welcome to gather in remembrance and honor of a life well-lived.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
