Frank J. Jessick, born on December 23, 1953 in Youngstown, lined up for a race he could not win. Frank lost his race with Leukemia on April 7, 2019. He fought to the very end. At his passing, Frank was surrounded by family in body and spirit.
Frank graduated from Ursuline High School and was an expert in auto body repair and welding. He used those talents both at the shop he owned, Frank's Auto, and at the New Castle School of Trade as a welding instructor . He spent forty-seven years racing his "68" Pontiac Firebird known as the "Bionic Bird" in the Mid-America Pro Gas series and U.M.T.R. regularly, as well as, at the Meander Dragstrip & Sunset every Thursday through Sunday.
Frank was the husband of Marie Pavlov Jessick, for thirty-two years; father to Robert (Valerie) Pavlov, Russell Pavlov; grandfather to Bryce Pavlov and Allison (Zu Zu Petals) Pavlov.
Frank was a friend to many, even through his quirky ways. His illness made him realize who cared for him since the people who mattered saw him and said their farewells while he was alive. There will be no services; for those who knew but missed out, shame on you.
The family asks for privacy during this time. Any donations should be made to Leukemia research or hospice.
