Frank Edward Metz Jr

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Edward Metz "Jr"., age 62, of Sharon, PA. Frank died peacefully at home on August 11, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones after a sudden diagnosis of brain cancer.

Born on March 9, 1963, in Sharon, PA, Frank was the son of the late Frank Metz Sr. and Sandra Buchanan Jennings, both of Sharon.

Frank was a man who gave his love freely to those in need. He had a lifelong passion for working with his hands — whether in construction or creating unique art pieces. Music filled his days; he loved playing it loudly, often accompanied by his signature whistling. He found peace in the mountains with family and friends, and joy while fishing at the lake.

Of all his pastimes, Frank’s greatest joys came from riding his Harley, playing pool, reconnecting with people in the community, and, above all, spending time with his beloved dogs.

He is survived by his fiancé, Shirley Hughes of Wheatland; his children, Dana Metz Signer of New Wilmington, PA, Crysta Metz of Smethport, PA and Terence “Eddie” Metz of Sharon, PA; and nine grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters, Crystal Metz of Taylor, SC, and Theresa Metz Hughes of Mercer, PA, and her daughter, Alisha Hughes

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Maryann Fair Metz, and his parents.

A memorial gathering was held on August 9, 2025, at Mahaney Recreation Area, where family and friends came together to share stories and celebrate Frank’s life. Though he was too ill to attend, the day was filled with the love and memories he so deeply cherished.

Frank will be remembered for his generous spirit, rebellious heart, and the way he lived life on his own terms. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
