George McKelvey Obituary

On Thursday, May 2, 2024, George M. McKelvey passed away at St. Joseph Hospital, Warren, OH, with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born March 27, 1947, in Youngstown, OH to Harold and Kathleen (Markar) McKelvey.

George worked as a brakeman for the railroad before retiring and was an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Air Force.

He loved his family and was always good at making you smile with his silly antics and stories. Maybe some were true. Who knows.

George leaves behind those who greatly loved him. His wife, Marilyn, whom he married in 1969; a daughter, Tracie (David), who is a spitfire like her father; grandson, Stephen (Miriah) Tuchek; daughter-in-law, Corry; granddaughters, Alice (Isaac) and Sara McKelvey; nieces and a nephew; sister-in-law Georgianne (John), with whom he spent many holidays; brother-in-law Ed (Pat); and his goddaughter Michele (Porkchop).

He enjoyed annual trips to Ocean City with his grandchildren and Las Vegas trips with his wife and daughter. George was a fan of the Ohio State football games, although The Raiders were his favorite. He loved to play cornhole with family and friends, belonged to a dart league for many years, played cards, and enjoyed trips to the local casino with his friend, Bobby. George was also a member of the ITAM club in Niles, OH.

A private family service will be held, followed by a family dinner to celebrate his life.

“There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief”.
