On Monday, March 3, 2025, George "Tiger" William Cairns, age 61, of Austintown, OH, passed away at his residence. He was born August 13, 1963, in Akron, OH to George and Kathie (Lamont) Cairns.
Tiger grew up in Akron and later in Lake Milton, graduated from Jackson-Milton High School, and attended the Joint Vocational School of Mahoning County, where he honed his skills as a diesel mechanic.
He was a dedicated and hardworking individual who built a successful career keeping the trucks running for the salt mines of Lake Erie. His passion extended beyond his profession - he had a deep love for restoring classic cars and enjoying fast boats on Lake Milton. Among his prized possessions was a 1970s Camaro, which he proudly drove.
Family was at the heart of George’s life. He cherished time spent with loved ones, whether helping his nephew Shelton Jr. clean his motorcycle, enjoying delicious meals prepared by his niece Tabatha, or cruising in his Camaro with his youngest niece Samantha. His warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on those around him.
George is survived by his mother, Kathie J. Cairns; siblings, Kathie (Shelton) Morris, Jeffrey (Heather) Cairns, and Cynthia Cairns; nieces, Tabatha Morris (Doug) and Samantha (Paul) Robinette; nephews Shelton (Crystal) Morris Jr., Nicholas Cairns, Patrick (Magan) Cairns, and Matthew Cairns; and great-nieces and nephews Landon, Luke, Parker Jo, Zaleigh, Brunson, and Shelton Maddox.
He was preceded in death by his father, George T. Cairns.
In honor of George’s wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy Dog Rescue of Ohio at ldrofohio.org.
