On Thursday, September 18, 2025, John Robert Mayberry, age 80, of Poland, OH, passed away peacefully at his residence. He was born December 3, 1944, in Youngstown, OH, the son of Paul Richard Mayberry and Lena Mae (Campbell) Mayberry.
John graduated from Boardman High School in 1963, after which he joined the Army and served from 1965-1967 in Vietnam. After the Army, John became a vending serviceman who repaired games, jukeboxes, and pool tables for Crown Vending, M & G, and Past Times Arcade until he retired in 2024.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Kimmel) Mayberry, whom he married on February 26, 1972; daughter, Kerry Mayberry Shugart; granddaughters, Sydney (Brandon) Shugart Hughes and Jessica Shugart; sister, Laurabelle (Bill) Magner; sister-in-law, Patricia Mayberry, along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his only grandson and "Best Buddy", William John Shugart; brothers, James Henry, Willis "Willie" (Joan), and Paul Richard Jr. "Rich"; sisters, Charlotte Ireane, Ellen (Kenny) Watson, and Glenna "Jean" (Dave) Pasky; nephew, Jim; and nieces, Judy and Patty.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and aides from Patriot Home Hospice for their excellent care, and to Cremation & Funeral Service by Gary S. Silvat, Inc.
A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
