John Wilson Obituary

This is the story of John Thomas Wilson, best known as “Bro”.  John was a hilarious, witty, intelligent man that is greatly loved, will be eternally missed, and forever cherished.  My father, that liked to be called “Papo Daddy” by his grandchildren, was an awesome father, grandfather, son, brother, and an angler of fish like no other.

John’s story began on February 6, 1955, born the third child to John Obediah and Hazel Renee Wilson.  John was born in Youngstown, Ohio at North Side Hospital.  It was in Struthers, Ohio where John spent his childhood, grew up, made numerous lifelong friends, and graduated from Struthers High School (June 1973).  He was very proud to be a Struthers Wildcat, as he participated in football, basketball, and track.  Not long after graduation, this hardworking trackman joined the P&LE Railroad (now known as CSX) for which he worked over thirty years.  On August 24th of 1978, John married and would become a proud father to me in May of 1980.

John was renowned for his sense of humor, mathematical genius, handyman expertise, and angler skills.  He always would make people smile, choke, and cry with his quick-witted humor.  John was like a psychologist of sorts, always willing to lend an open ear.  Even more willing to give his creditable input and advice.  I remember talking to him for hours every day, he never failed to put a smile on my face or some tears in my eyes from laughter.

John loved to go out to the lakes and just fish for hours.  He spent numerous days at various lakes around the Mahoning County, Ohio area.  He would always point out “fishing facts” that he and his co-angler, “Budd” shared.  He would say, “you have to think like a fish… to catch the fish!”  He loved reminiscing about the good times he and cousin Budd shared together.  John had a passion for thinking.  He loved doing sudoku & crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together, and watching an array of different gameshows.

Loved ones that cleared the path for John are: his father, John Obediah Wilson and his mother, Hazel Renee Wilson.  Loved ones that will forever love, miss, mourn, and adore John until they meet again are: his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Wilson; his son-in-law, Martin David Wilson; his granddaughter, Jailyn May Wilson; his grandson, Jevin Thomas Wilson; his sisters, Irma Casey, Warnetta Milhouse, Patricia Carter, Darlene Wilson; his brother, Jerome Wilson; and the many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
