Karene Carmella McCormack, age 71, of New Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 20, 1953, in Cleveland, OH to Onofrio and Eleanor T. (Rogers) Spinelli.
Karene is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Daniel J. McCormack; her son, Brian McCormack (Melanie) of Poland, Ohio; her daughters, Jessica Higginbotham (Michael) of Parma, Ohio, and Tiffany Messer (Michael Sr.) of Columbia Station, Ohio; nine cherished grandchildren: Jessaca, Leah, Michael Jr., Tanner, Jared, Trevor, Gianna, Hailey, and Jenna; and sister-in-law, Lynn Spinelli-Vassily. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Karene was a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved cooking for her family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by loved ones. Her fondness for campground life reflected her appreciation for togetherness and the outdoors. Karene had a deep love for the ocean; she found peace at the beach and treasured the feeling of the waves on her feet. A caring and giving person by nature, she touched the lives of everyone she met with kindness and warmth.
She was deeply supportive of her children and grandchildren, always encouraging them in their endeavors. Her family was the center of her world, and she loved them with all her heart.
Karene was preceded in death by her parents, Onofrio and Eleanor T. (Rogers) Spinelli; her brother Daniel and her sister Nancy Spinelli.
Karene’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of love and generosity continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
