Kay Irene Kyle Knowlton, 73, passed away peacefully at home in Champion, Ohio, on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She was surrounded by her loved ones and her beloved dog, Toby.
Born on August 25, 1951, in Warren, Ohio, Kay was the daughter of the late Clyde and Ruth (Chalker) Kyle. She grew up in Nelson, Ohio, and graduated from James A. Garfield High School in 1969.
Kay worked at Johnson Rubber and later at Packard Electric. After retiring from Delphi, she often joked that she was so busy she didn’t know how she ever had time to work. A devoted Christian, Kay found joy in playing hymns on the piano and cherished her faith deeply.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and dogs. Kay had a zest for life—she enjoyed roller and ice skating, sled riding in winter, swimming, and visiting the beach. Dolphins held a special place in her heart. She was an avid fan of Cleveland sports teams and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. Kay also loved country music and Elvis Presley. Summers were often spent attending live band performances with friends and family. Known for celebrating others, she never missed a birthday party.
Kay is survived by her children, Julie Knowlton and Kyle (Lisa) Knowlton; grandchildren Chuckie, Ellie, Bella, and Isaya; ex-husband and friend Donald Knowlton; dear friend Ray Razzano; and her cherished fur baby Toby. She also leaves behind several cousins who were like siblings to her: Darlene (Larry) Martin, Randy (Verdena) Kline, Barb Kline Perry, and Sandy (Chuck) Rought.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Susan Knowlton.
A celebration of life will be held on May 10, 2025, from 3–5 PM at the Johanson Community Center, 800 Gillmer Rd., Leavittsburg, OH 44430. Services will be led by cousin Ken Chalker.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
