Kenneth "KC" Charles McCormick Jr

Kenneth Charles “K.C.” McCormick Jr. passed away suddenly in his sleep on March 25, 2025, at his home in Austintown, Ohio. He was born on July 7, 1963, to the late Kenneth C. McCormick Sr. and Willavean “Billie” Sylak-McCormick Cocca.

A 1981 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, K.C. served as a United States Marine. Throughout his life, he held various jobs, but his heart was always with the arts. His passion for theater and music was evident to all who knew him. A tattoo of the tragedy and comedy masks symbolized his enduring love for performance. He starred in numerous theatrical productions and later became the lead singer of a cover band called Binge. His enthusiasm for music spanned all genres and left a lasting impression on those around him. He also studied at the Dana School of Music and Arts.

K.C. married Kathy Yoho (Lazor) in 1990 and although the marriage did not endure, together they had three children: Krystal McCormick (Travis Starr) of Youngstown, Cody McCormick (Chelsea Learn) of Boardman, and Dylan McCormick (Vicky Weeks) of Niles; and one grandson, Wyatt Nommay of Youngstown., whom K.C. was very proud of.

He is also survived by his mother, Willavean “Billie” Cocca of Brookfield; sisters Celia McCormick (James Malik) and Vickie McCormick, both of Mineral Ridge; niece Amanda Fitzgerald (Ed Fields) of Youngstown; nephews Nicholas and William McCormick; great-nephews Steven Fitzgerald and Maxwell Fields; and great-niece Haylee Fitzgerald.

He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth C. McCormick Sr., stepfather Anthony Cocca, sister April McCormick, brother Thomas McCormick, and grandparents Steven Sylak and Audrey (Maddox) Sylak.

K.C.’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who shared in his music, laughter, and love for life.
