Lin Samples Obituary

Lin Samples a resident of Vienna died on June 8th, 2024.

Lin lived her life generously as many of you know, even while riding the cancer bus the last year and a half.

Lin was many things starting with being the daughter of Bob and Shirley McElrath and a bonus daughter to many others! She was a sibling to Scott, Jim and Lauree, next she was my wife and I Jim Samples was her hubby! We got Married August 13th 1993. She was also mom to Leigha, Paige and Miranda and a bonus mom to most of the kids in Vienna and anyone else that came to our home! She was also a military spouse, she adopted every local airman that I brought home providing the food and fun! She was also a Grandma to Emma, Zack, and Jilly, as well as a bonus Grandma to many more! Lin was a friend to many, she cherished the time she spent with so many of you, that time that wives, mom’s and grama’s find that does not exist but they find it for YOU! Lin was the “grab a plate” mom, she always made room for one more!

Lin was many other things, she was coach Lin to the pee wee ball, softball and volleyball kids. She enjoyed being the concession stand mom, the band mom and school volunteer mom along with many more “mom” positions, being with her kids and their friends ensuring they were organized, fed and having fun!

Lin started off attending the First Baptist Church in Howland, that’s where we got married. Then we moved to NorthMar in Warren and then started attending Grace Fellowship Church in Niles after we came back from our active duty tour in Puerto Rico, our family still attends there today. God’s generosity was seen through Lin as: whenever she seen a need – she tried to meet it and help her friends, family, church family, bonus family and even the homeless guy under the bridge in Puerto Rico!

Lin’s memorial/life celebration will be held on June 22nd 2024, which would have been her 67th Birthday.

Please don’t send flowers! Lin did not like to see beautiful things wither, she had a green thumb and kept beauty alive all around her! Instead, please make a donation to the St. Joseph Cancer Care Closet, while Lin was being treated she met needs of others through the care closet. If you chose to donate, please put it into a card and send it to me or bring it to the service. We are going to display those cards at the service and will present the donation the following week.

The beginning of Lin’s service will be at NorthMar Church in Warren Ohio. Calling hours will be from 8am to 10am, with the family hanging out in the pictures in the foyer, not standing in a line. Come find us for a hug and story! The service will start at 10am, Pastor Roy Mack from Grace Fellowship church will be speaking. The family will be back in the foyer after the service till 1pm. At 3pm will reconvene at Sr Jalapeno restaurant on North River road in Warren, give the family a heads up if you are coming. If you are, grab a seat and order – the family is going to walk around and see everyone!

Lin loved y’all!

Thanks,

Her Family
