Lois Scott Obituary

Lois Ruth Scott, age 86, of Poland, Ohio, passed away peacefully, to be with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. She was born in Salem, PA, on July 13, 1934. Lois was a loving and devoted mother, and is survived by her sons, Rick (Maggie) Reichard, Lionel (Dena) Crissman, Scott (Lisa) Crissman; step-daughter, Susan (Mike) Vinkler.  She and her late husband, George "Bud" Scott, always enjoyed cooking and caring for all of their children and eight grandchildren, Mike (Jessica) Beck; Colton (Emma), Brooke, and Carson Crissman; Justin (Alexa), Jared (Lonnie), Michael, and Tyler Vinkler; and two great grand children, Braxton and Bentley.  Lois truly adored her grandchildren and has two more great grand babies on the way!
Lois was always full of enthusiasm - quick to smile, with a great sense of humor! She truly brightened up any room she entered. Lois' main joy came from spoiling her children and grandchildren! Lois was a strong woman, hardworking, and extremely dedicated to her family. She was a phenomenal baker - and her amazing birthday cakes and cooking will be greatly missed. It has been said that Lois made the best banana cream pie and chocolate iced cake in Youngstown! She enjoyed making special Sunday meals for her family - their favorite being her delicious roast and mashed potatoes.
In a time when most women found their roles as stay-at-home moms, Lois boldly ventured into the workforce! She brought laughter and fun to all of her co-workers, while working hard to support her family. Lois worked at several different jobs over the years: Fazio's, Listordi's and T.J. Maxx. She was exceptionally proud of her years working with her sons in the office at Crissman Tool and Machine. Lois truly had a gift to make everyone feel special and to connect with each person she met inside and outside the workplace.
Lois was blessed with a large family, growing up in rural Pennsylvania. She is survived by her sister, Norma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and William; sisters Peg, Shirley, Joan, Nancy; and brothers Wallace, Bob, Leo, Bill and Gerald. She had so many cherished memories with her family reminiscing over the years with all of her many siblings, who are now reunited and surely laughing and drinking coffee together in paradise. They loved gathering at their family home in Salem to play cards and sing. The sisters and brothers could always be found around the piano - or the guitar -- singing and laughing for hours! All of their children witnessed such great love and joy for family! It was truly their special gift.
Lois had many treasured friends and neighbors, over the years. Each and every one meant so much to her. She was an enthusiastic sports fan, and loved watching the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians religiously - and she was always her grandchildren's biggest fan! Lois enjoyed going to the casino with her family and friends, and lady luck always seemed to follow her! The slot machines blessed her often, and she won almost every raffle she entered -- but she was always quick to give her winnings away. Lois truly enjoyed giving to others.
We want to send a special thank you to everyone at the Country Club Assisted Living for giving Lois such special care. She truly felt at home there, and thought of all of the employees and residents as her extended family. God bless you all....
The family will announce a Celebration of Life for Lois, at a future date, due to the Covid-19 social distancing restrictions. In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to essential healthcare workers and those that keep us safe.
