On Sunday, January 4, 2026, Louis Michael Loibl Jr., age 77, of Liberty Township, Ohio, passed away at Austintown Healthcare Center. He was born in Youngstown on April 2, 1948, to Louis and Elizabeth (Perov) Loibl.
Lou is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Lauri (Marks) Loibl; his stepson, Dustin Jerla; his sister-in-law, Karen (Mackey) Loibl; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Frease; and his special great-niece, Kayla Weaver, whom we appreciated so much. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides his parents, Lou was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Loibl, Louise Larson, Janet Frease, Shirley Butryn, and Patricia Loibl.
After graduating from high school, Lou earned his Bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed traveling, especially trips to South Carolina in the spring and Magee Marsh in May. Lou and his wife were avid birdwatchers, and he always kept an eye out for that special bird to add to his “life list.”
Lou also enjoyed long walks, summer Sunday concerts, going up to the lake for “sun and beaching,” and “going to Rainbow to have pizza.”
