Lynn Clark Obituary

Lynn Clark, age 74, of Poland, Ohio was welcomed home into the arms of Jesus on November 8, 2024, surrounded by her family at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. She was born on October 26, 1950, the younger sister, (by two minutes) of her identical twin, Leigh, and later, the older sister to brother William “Butch.”. Following her graduation from Poland Seminary High School in 1968, Lynn was accepted into the St, Elizabeth’s nursing program in 1969, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1972. Lynn married her husband, Alan Lee Clark in June 1973 and together, they spent the next fifty-one years building a family, chasing dreams, and following God.

Lynn’s nursing career spanned over half a century, continuing to work on a per diem basis until her passing. She took great pride in caring for those who could not care for themselves, and spent her life dedicated to living out the great commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself.”  Lynn believed that there was a difference between caring for a patient and caring about a patient, and her actions, words, and example demonstrated the importance she placed on caring about her patients.

Lynn was an active member of The White Shrine of Jerusalem, Ruth Shrine No. 64 in Poland, Ohio. In 2019, she was elected the office of Supreme Worthy Guide within the Supreme Shrine who oversees all other White Shrines in the United States and Canada. She progressed through the line of officers, assuming the position of Supreme Worthy High Priestess in May 2023. In that position, Lynn was responsible for personally inspecting every Shrine across the United States and Canada. Together, Lynn and Lee traveled nearly one million miles by car and plane for Shrine duties. These travels were some of their fondest memories together, and it allowed them to grow even closer as they lived out their dream of traveling the country. Lynn was also a majority member of the Rainbow Girls and was an active member of several Eastern Star and Amaranth groups.

Lynn is survived by her beloved husband, Lee, their children, Alan (Lisa) Clark, Jason (Meagan) Clark, Elizabeth “Betsey” Clark, Philip (Kendal) Clark; grandchildren, Austin, Adrianna, Konner, Gavin, and Marilyn who will forever cherish their grandmother’s memory; her twin sister, Leigh (David) Faustyn, and fourteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Don” and Clara DeCarlo, and her brother, William “Butch” DeCarlo Jr.

Lynn’s unshakable faith in God could be seen by anyone who knew her. She was a living example of the love of Christ. Her life was guided by her favorite scripture, Michah 6:8: “What does the Lord require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God”. It is her testimony that provides peace and comfort, knowing that while her time on Earth has come to an end, she is worshiping in glory at the feet of Jesus.

Lynn’s family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to the Western Reserve Joint Fire District, St. Elizabeth’s Youngstown Emergency staff, Cardiac Cath Lab staff, ICU staff, and Palliative Care staff for the extraordinary care and compassion show to Lynn in her final days. Their dedication to excellence in patient care is an inspiration and is a hallmark of the health care system that Lynn cared about so deeply.
