On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Mary Jo McBride, age 70, of Austintown OH, passed away at Hospice House. She was born December 9, 1954, in Youngstown, OH to John and Iva (Wood) Hager.
A dedicated volunteer, Mary Jo gave her time to the Second Harvest Food Bank and was an active member and volunteer of New Hope Community Church. She found strength and companionship among a close-knit circle of friends affectionately known as "The Soup Group."
Mary Jo was known for her deep compassion and unwavering support for those around her. She cared for both of her parents during their later years and provided comfort to her brother, sister, and a friend through their illnesses and passing. Her selflessness touched many lives—she never hesitated to lend a hand or offer comfort when it was needed most.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John McBride Sr.; sons, John (Alanna) McBride Jr. of Poland, Ohio, and Jason (Autumn) McBride of Girard, Ohio; grandchildren Tyler of Austintown, Kaileigh and Dylan of Poland, and Clinton and Jacci of Girard; and her sister Mary (Walter) Hager-Smith of Canfield. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Louie and Maxx.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, John and Iva (Wood) Hager, and siblings Joyce Hulbert, Don Gordon, Rodger Hager, and John Hager.
Her legacy is one of kindness, service, and enduring love. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
