Peter Allen Kennedy

Youngstown, OH - At home on Friday, April 20, 2018. Peter Allen Kennedy, age 62, passed away.  He was born in Youngstown on December 12, 1955 to Jabo Monroe Louis Kennedy Jr and Harriet "Jackie" Groomes Kennedy Roseman Hodge.

Peter is survived by his brother, Jaabone Monroe Louis Kennedy III of Youngstown; nephews, James Andre Kennedy, Anthony Rodgers, other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Peter was preceded in death by siblings, Cynthia Renee Kennedy, Oscar Roseman Jr., Juliett Hodge and nephew, Christopher Rodgers.

In Peter's junior high school year of 1967, he played on both the basketball and baseball teams for Hillman Junior High School.  That was the year each team went undefeated during their respective season's.  He along with his brother, Jaabone, spent many days in their early teens working for Feldman Trucking at the Pyatt Street Market unloading truckloads of fruits and vegetables.   Peter also spent time boxing locally and competed in the Ohio State Fair.  After high school he honorably served his country in the United States Navy on board the USS McCandless DE-1084 (Destroyer Escort).  During his service Peter was awards the National Defense Service Medal.  In his later years he was still enthusiastic about baseball and basketball but now instead of playing the sports he just listened to them on the radio while playing chess or cards.

A burial is planned in the Todd Homestead Cemetery with his mother and other relatives.
