On Saturday March 7, 2026, the world got a little quieter, Richard Sharpe of Youngstown, passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley after a lengthy illness.
Richard was born on October 12, 1952, to Albert Sharp and Mary DeMarco Sharp DeLost, and was raised by his mother and stepfather, the late Frank DeLost.
Known as Rick, he followed his own path and had an engaging personality that led him to many friends and acquaintances. He loved rock music, playing drums for over 60 years. Rick lived in Florida, Texas, and Youngstown, but always considered the neighborhood of Nebo in Struthers his home.
He particularly enjoyed having been a contestant on Cash Explosion. He loved visiting Las Vegas, and left a winner several times, courtesy of playing and hitting Black 15 on the roulette wheel. Rick served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, receiving an honorable discharge.
Rick leaves behind his adored granddaughter, Kaydence Sharpe. He also leaves his brother Bob (JoAnne) who helped him on his path to his final journey home. Other survivors include nephews Justin and Scott (Bethany) Sharp, great-nephew twins Calvin and Brandon Sharp, and lifelong best friend Anthony Centofanti. He also leaves a son, Richard Sharpe Jr.
Rick seldom said goodbye to anyone. It was always, “Later for you..” I will miss you with all my heart. See you on the other side, my brother. Tell Mom and Dad I said “Hi..” Later for you.
