Richard Frank Zitello

Richard Frank Zitello, age 74, of Austintown, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 surrounded by his family. Richie, known as "Benji" to many of his friends, was born on November 24, 1950, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Sam "Whimp" and Anne M. (Sassone) Zitello.

A 1969 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, Rich worked for The United States Railroad, the Frank Sherman Company as a foreman and retired from Mercy Health as part of the patient transporter team.

Rich’s passions were fishing, golfing, playing cards, and woodworking but most of all, he loved just spending time in his garage savoring the flavor and relaxation of a great cigar.

Rich was a kind, generous, and loving person. His smile and humor touched countless lives. Rich's memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Rich was blessed with a loving family. On November 27, 1972, he married the love of his life, Dorothy "Dottie" (Ford) Zitello. They had a beautiful life together and the love they share is forever felt. Dorothy passed away on April 6, 2023.

Rich is survived by his children, Gianna Clinkscale, Brent Zitello; siblings, Mary Zitello (Joe) McGuire of Washington, DC, Donna McMahon of Austintown, Joe (Tina) Zitello of North Jackson, Michael (Nancy) Zitello of Austintown; his beloved grandchildren, Ralphie, Rhya Isabella, Mateo, Dominic as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Besides his parents and wife, Rich was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lisa Zitello and his beloved best friend and companion, Spike Richard.
