On Friday, December 27, 2024, Robert "Bob" Ralph Heller, age 69, of Poland, Ohio passed away at Caprice Senior Care in Youngstown OH.
He was born January 5, 1955, in Canada, to Rolf and Rosemarie (Lipp) Heller. Shortly after Robert was born, his parents moved to Brook Park, Ohio, where he and his parents became U.S. citizens in October of 1963.
Bob graduated from Midpark High School in Berea, Ohio, in 1973. After he graduated high school, his family moved to Austintown, Ohio, where Bob worked as a head cook for Steak and Ale in Niles, Ohio. In 1980, he was accepted into and completed an apprenticeship to become a first-class welder for General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT. He worked for General Dynamics, building Navy submarines for over 15 years.
After retiring from General Dynamics, he took on a new career by attending and graduating from Ridley Lowell Technical Institute, where he learned computer troubleshooting. He then obtained employment at TriVin/DealerTrack in Groton, CT, working on their helpdesk. Before that job ended, he worked in addition to TriVin as an associate for Walmart in Groton, CT.
Bob was strongly skilled in many fields. Whatever was put on his plate or put in his path in life, he faced head-on. Out of great love and sacrifice, he was determined to provide for his son and grandsons. Nothing was more important to him. He eventually went into a well-deserved retirement and moved with his son and grandsons to Ohio in 2021.
He is survived by his sister Jennifer Labrie along with her husband Nick and nephew Nick Jr. of North Lima, Ohio, son Matthew Heller, and grandsons Matthew Jr. and Charles of Poland, Ohio.
Besides his parents, Robert is preceded in death by a nephew Jeremy Bowser, grandmother Elizabeth Faehringer, step-grandfather Fred Faehringer, great uncle Arthur Kling, and great aunt Annemarie Kling.
There are no services planned for Robert. His remains will be interred in the future with his mother, Rosemarie, and father Rolf at Brunstetter Cemetery, in Austintown.
The family is grateful for all the care given to him by the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospitals of both Boardman and Youngstown. God bless our nurses!
