Robert Monoski Obituary

On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Robert “Bob” Monoski, age 94, of Austintown, OH, formerly of Renovo, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 9, 1931, to parents Joseph and Elizabeth Monoski, Bob lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and love for life's simple joys.

Bob proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from March 1950 to March 1953. During his service, as a Quartermaster, he served aboard the United States Coast Guard Cutter Northwind (WAGB-282) until his release from active duty. Bob was also awarded the Coast Guard Arctic Service Medal along with several other distinguished awards and decorations in recognition of his dedicated service.

After his service with the US Coast Guard, he began a long career with General Motors, where he worked for more than 30 years before retiring in 1995. Known for his strong work ethic and steady presence, he took great pride in providing for his family and building a life centered around love and loyalty.

Bob is survived by his beautiful wife of 70 years, MaryEllen (Moore) Monoski, and their five children: Mary, Cookie, Bob (Carla), Jay, and Patty (Corry). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who brought him tremendous pride and joy throughout his life. Family was the center of Bob’s life, and he treasured every moment spent with those he loved most.

He had a lifelong love for sports and was a devoted fan of both the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. One of his greatest joys was spending winters in Florida with MaryEllen, creating memories together, and enjoying the warmth and peace of their time away from Ohio.

Those who knew Bob will remember his quiet strength, loyalty, sense of dedication, and deep love for his family. His legacy will live on through the countless memories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, no formal services will be held. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
