Robert Baumgartner
On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Robert “Robbie” Allen Baumgartner, age 69, of Austintown, OH passed away at his sister’s residence, surrounded by his loved ones . He was born August 20, 1954 in Youngstown OH, to Ronald Eugene Baumgartner and Hazel Ann (Lee) Baumgartner.
Robbie’s greatest passions in life were music, playing guitar and helping others. He had a love for his chosen family, friends, nature, animals and was a hippie to the core. Robbie lived life on his own terms and had a wonderful, albeit at times, inappropriate sense of humor.
Robbie's life was a medley of high notes and soulful verses. After a stint in the US Air Force from 1971 to 1975, he spun through life's record, queuing up tracks as a taxi driver-navigating life's crossroads and alleyways with the same ease as a Sunday drive. Not one to skip a beat, Robbie also enjoyed a career that included gigs as a brother, husband, father and son, caregiver, a radio DJ and as a musician, always ready to pick up a tune.
Prior to relocating to Austintown, Robbie resided in Wind Ridge PA from 2005 until 2024.
It has been said that music is what feelings sound like, and Robbie's feelings were of kindness and care, especially to his beloved Dolly Morris and friend Jim Vellenoweth, to whom he was both a rock and a soft place to land in their times of need.
Robbie leaves behind a band of siblings; Carole Lynn Baumgartner, Mary C (Chrys) (Baumgartner) Beelen, Ronald C. (Barbara) Baumgartner, Charles W. (Sara) Baumgartner, Ronald E. (Kim) Baumgartner, and Ronald (Naomi) Martin.
Besides his parents, Robbie was preceded in death by siblings, Catherine Virginia Baumgartner and Virginia (Ginger) Baumgartner. He also leaves behind four children, Elisha Ann, Josephine Joann, Jonnathan D. and Joshua D. Baumgartner; grandchildren, Aaron, Elizabeth, Brandon, Noah, Amarah, Jonah, Brandon and Elizabeth; and many step-siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be planned at a future date.
