Roger Hafner Obituary

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Roger Ray Hafner, age 70, passed away peacefully at home. He was born on Oct. 19, 1955, in Dayton, OH, a son of the late Shirley Barnes and Roland Eshelman. 

Roger proudly served his country as a military policeman in the United States Army, Anchorage, AK, from 1975 to 1977.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Jane (Frank) Hafner; adoring daughters, Anna (Dennis) Derr of Boardman, Margaret Hafner of Youngstown; grandchildren, Brianna (Lance) Parker of Austintown, Connor Marotti of Youngstown; great-grandchildren, Markell and Miles Parker; sister, Lynnette Workman of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Mark (Jacquie) Hafner of La Farge, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. 

Roger will be remembered as a fun-loving man who loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. At Youngstown's Woodrow Wilson High School, he made the All-City team in 1973, where he played both offensive and defensive line. Roger was also a regular vendor at the Four Seasons and Rogers flea markets.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Boardman Township Park - Ex Servicemen's Pavilion from 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
