Ronald (Ron) Detec of Campbell, OH went home with his angels on Sunday, September 15, 2024, with those who love him by his side. Ron was born on March 25, 1943, to Leonard and Sophie (Kupec) Detec, also of Campbell, OH.
After serving four years in the US Army between 1960 and 1964, Ron was employed as a millwright and then in industrial maintenance as an electrician at LTV Copperweld Steel/Maverick Tube for 38 years before retiring in 2002. Ron was a member of USWA Local 1331 and served a term as Vice President.
Ron was an avid bowler and enjoyed competing in tournaments, most notably the Petersen Classic that was held in Chicago, IL. He also loved golfing, playing in the VFW 3538 League. In the 1980’s, Ron coached girls' softball in Campbell for the Flowers by Michelle and S&H Marine teams.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathy, son Brian, daughter Sheri Rodgers, along with sister Marie Korchinak (Joe), and brothers Richard (Jean) and Jerry (Connie).
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Leonard and Robert.
As per Ron’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service.
