Sara Lyn Bender

On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Sara Lyn Bender, age 47, passed away peacefully at Hospice House. Sara was born November 23, 1978, in Salem, OH, to the late Thomas E. Bender and Linda L. (Williams) Bender. 

Sara attended elementary school in Berlin Center, middle school in Austintown, and graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1997. She attended Youngstown State University and earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice.

Sara dedicated fifteen years of her career to The Original Roadhouse before continuing her professional journey at RMI Titanium. She also managed two motels in Trumbull County, demonstrating her strong work ethic and leadership. She had a humorous and larger-than-life personality.

She leaves behind Jeanmarie (Hack) Bender, who raised her from the age of six; her sisters, Lisa Bender, with whom she resided, and Stacey (Bender) Crist; and three nephews: Shawn Stewart, Robert Ague, and Max Ague. Sara is also remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her grandfather, William H. Hack Sr. Her beloved dogs, Brutus and Hoss, were dear companions. Two boys especially close to her heart, Eugene and Edward Yuko, held a special place in her life. She also leaves behind her longtime friend, Anthony DiCenso.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents Perry and Betty Williams; paternal grandparents Wilson and Nettie Mae Bender; her brother Steven T. Bender; and brother-in-law Samuel Crist.

Per Sara’s request, there will be no services.
