Sarah Ann (Eckenrod) Merchant

Unexpectedly, on Monday, September 21, 2026, Sarah Ann (Eckenrod) Merchant, age 46, of Sharon, PA, passed away at home. She was born in Sharon on February 19, 1980, to Charles Edwin and Deborah Lee (McBlair) Eckenrod.

A devoted homemaker, she was known as someone who would do anything for anyone. Sarah found happiness in time spent with family, especially during movie nights, cookouts, and weekends with her grandchildren. She loved taking her grandchildren to the park and treasured being with them. She also enjoyed playing Mario Kart on the Wii with the kids, creating memories filled with laughter and friendly competition.

Her interests reflected her lively spirit and her love of comfort and fun. Sarah was a big fan of bingo and enjoyed playing drunken Skip-Bo. She liked watching Sons of Anarchy and Yellowstone, and she could often be found cleaning while jamming to music turned up super loud. She loved candles, favored the color purple, and held a special fondness for wooden roses, which were a meaningful symbol in her life. Her favorite animal was the black panther.

Sarah was also known for the familiar comforts she brought to those around her. She made what many considered the best pasta salad, and her peanut butter and jelly sammiches earned special praise from her grandkids. Among her favorite treats were maple rolls and 5th Avenue chocolate bars.

She will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family gatherings, and the joy she found in sharing everyday moments with those around her. Her memory will remain close in the laughter, music, and traditions she loved most. 

Sarah is survived by her dear husband, George Merchant; children, George Frederick (Cheyanne) Merchant Jr., Joseph William (Anna Paris) Merchant, Alexis Marie (Robert) Duvall, John Elmer (Paige) Airgood, Victoria Lynn Merchant, Hayley Nicole (Arthur Lee King) Merchant, Delaney Hope Merchant; grandchildren, Kylah Phibbs, Kinzleigh Merchant, Zander Merchant, Brinleigh McDonough, Zoey McDonough, George Frederick Merchant lll, Mila Merchant, Selena Merchant, Joseph Merchant Jr., Arya Merchant, Beckham Airgood, Robert Duvall Jr., Kaiden Duvall, Jaxson Duvall, Colton Duvall, Remington Duvall, Alyssa Duvall, Hudson Duvall, and Mason Duvall.
