Stanley J Rycek Jr.

Stanley “Butch” Rycek went home to God on March 27, 2025, in Austintown, Ohio. Born on March 8, 1946, in Youngstown, he was the son of Stanley and Ann (Sertich) Rycek.

Stanley attended St. Patrick School in Hubbard and later graduated from Wilson High School. A true car enthusiast, he had an uncanny ability to identify the make, model, and year of nearly any vehicle from the early 1950s through the late 1970s. He enjoyed collecting model cars and spent countless hours helping friends work on their vehicles.

Known affectionately as “Butch,” Stanley was a jack-of-all-trades who held many jobs over the years. His favorite work involved towing—an industry he remained passionate about for most of his adult life. When not working or watching his beloved Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, Butch could be found delighting his nieces and nephews with candy from Frank’s Party Shop or pulling playful pranks that left everyone laughing. Butch loved going to Frank's Party Shop to buy candy for the kids. He would often say things like "If you kids are good, I'll let you play in the street, and if you're really good, I'll take you down to WRTA and let you play under the buses". His pranks would be taking out his false teeth and putting them in the glass that someone was drinking from.

Stanley is lovingly remembered by his longtime girlfriend, Sandy Ascierno of Hubbard; his sister Joyce (Vince) Marco of Boardman; his brother Jerome (Diane) Rycek of Youngstown; many nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren; a great-niece; and a great-nephew.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Strobel.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Stanley brought joy and laughter to those around him through humor, generosity, and a deep love for family. his family will always remember the fun times had with Uncle Butch. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
