Teresa Moore Obituary

Teresa “Terry” Elizabeth Moore (née Halme), beloved daughter & sister, wife & mother, Aunt, Nana & friend, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in her home while under the loving care of her family and hospice, following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born on December 8, 1952, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Oscar R. Halme and Eleanora Elizabeth Halme (née Sinclair).

After graduating from Norfolk Catholic High School, she married the love of her life, Larry M. Moore, and she moved to Ohio in 1971. They shared fifty years of marriage until Larry’s passing in 2022. Teresa was a longtime and devoted member of the Newton Falls Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and rarely missed an opportunity to share the good news with others.

Terry was a stay-at-home mom for many years, raising her girls. She later worked as a medical transcriptionist and then spent fifteen years as a nursing assistant at a local nursing home, where her compassion and kindness touched everyone in her care. After overcoming cancer, Terry selflessly devoted herself to caring for two of her sisters during their own health struggles. Known simply as a “helper,” she never hesitated to lend a hand to family or friends whenever they were in need.

Terry loved spending cherished time with her daughters and grandchildren. She was a proud and devoted supporter of her “girls” throughout many years of 4-H, rarely missing county fairs or competitions and always cheering them on with pride. She was extremely proud of her daughters and grandchildren and took great joy in their accomplishments.

Terry had a deep love of animals and welcomed many into her life over the years, including cats, and was rarely without the companionship of a dog, most recently her beloved Little Man. She & Larry enjoyed many walks with their dog down at Craig Beach.

Terry found great joy in traveling & discovering new places. Bird watching, gardening, crafting, and shopping were a few of her favorite things to do. She also never passed up an opportunity to go out to eat and indulge in a favorite treat.

Terry is survived by her daughters, Melody Lynn (Bryan) Kelley of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Marie (Luke Stouffer) Moore of Leetonia, Ohio; and her grandchildren, Hunter Gilligan, Logan Swain, Hannah (Justin) Rutherford, Regan Johnson, who were the light of her life. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Besides her parents, Terry was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry M. Moore; her sisters, Eleanora (John) Glenn of Norfolk, Virginia; Maggie Halme of Dracut, Massachusetts; and Virginia (Ray) Shaw of Norfolk, Virginia.

Terry will be remembered for her generous heart, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of kindness and service will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
