Walter William Stone Sr

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Walter William “Butch” Stone Sr., age 78, of of Austintown, Ohio, passed away at Mercy Health-Youngstown. He was born February 11, 1947, in Youngstown, OH, to William and Agnes (Forsythe) Stone.

Walter grew up in Youngstown alongside his three siblings: Dorothy Seckler, Beverly Stone, and Richard Stone. He remained close to his roots throughout his life and built a legacy grounded in family, hard work, and community.

For many years, Walter worked as a supervisor at Youngstown Window Cleaning before retiring. His dedication to his profession reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to those around him.

A devoted husband for 53 years, Walter shared a life filled with love and partnership with his wife Doris Stone of Austintown. Together, they raised three children: sons Walter (Jeanette) Stone Jr. of Austintown and Jonathan (Rebecca) Stone of Austintown; and daughter Heather Stille of Austintown. Walter took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory.

Walter was an avid fan of Cleveland sports teams—especially the Browns and Guardians—and enjoyed cheering them on through every season. His enthusiasm for the game was matched only by the joy he found in spending time with family.

In addition to his parents and sisters, Dorothy Seckler and Beverly Stone, Walter was preceded in death by many loved ones whose memories he cherished deeply. He is survived by his brother Richard Stone of Youngstown.

Walter’s life will be honored at a private funeral service.
