William James O'Neill Jr

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, William James O'Neill Jr., age 73, passed away, in Boardman, Ohio. He was born  March 22, 1952 and raised in Youngstown OH, to William and Joan (Hoover) O'Neill.

William graduated from Chaney High School. Afterwards he worked as a brakeman and conductor for Y&N Railroad.

He moved to Texas and studied at Texas A&M University and was employed by Shell Oil as a Pipefitter for many years.

In 1986, he moved to Las Vegas, where he worked as a project manager and maintenance. He also gave back to his community through volunteer work at the Salvation Army.

William retired and returned to the Youngstown area in 2017.

Throughout his life he enjoyed reading, painting and spending time with his family.

 He is survived by his son, Michael Monroe of Texas; grandchildren Mason Monroe, Grayson Monroe, and Olivia Monroe; siblings Patrick (Carrie) O’Neill of South Carolina, James O’Neill of Youngstown, Peggy (Bill) Jones of Austintown, and Christine O'Neill of Austintown; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda O’Neill, and brother Richard O’Neill.
