Lisbon, OH - On Sunday, October 22, 2017, Joyce E. (McEldowny) Wilson, age 89, passed away in Select Specialty Hospital Boardman, OH.  She was born on December 9, 1927 in Berln Center, OH to Ross and Ethel M. (Burkey) McEldowny.

Joyce is survived by her beloved son, Larry (Denise (Landsberger)) Goodman, of Lisbon; grandchildren, Julie Goodman (Greg) Seifert of Lisbon, Dan (Holly (Ritchie)) Goodman of Greenford; step-children, Donald (Nancy) Wilson of Lewis Center, OH, Phyllis Harris of Ravenna, Dorothy Ann Harris of North Jackson; siblings, Carol Sadler of Lisbon, Elizabeth Goodman of Lisbon; nieces, Tami (Steve) Sadler-Mix of Kensington, Cheryl (Slider) Murdoch of Lisbon both who cared for Joyce as if they were her daughters and other nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Cloe L. Wilson; step-children, Donna Berringer, Charles Wilson; siblings, Glen "Mac" McEldowny and Doris Reichart.

Joyce was a 1946 graduate of Berlin Center High School.  During her formative years she worked on the family farm with her father and at Shively Orchard.  She went on to work as a butcher at Lynn Locker in Canfield for 25 years then partnered in "Mac's Carry Out" on Berlin Station Rd.  Later she opened her own pizza shop at the same location.  She was an avid golfer and bowler.  After retirement Joyce and her sister, Carol, traveled all over the United States in their 37ft. motorhome.  They spent a few winters in the south including Texas.  Their reputation followed them and one of the local Guilford Lake tavern owners even referred to them as "Thelma & Louise."  While the exploits of their travels may never be truly known they must have frequented this watering hole more than once telling the tales of those adventures.

Committal Service will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11 AM in the Ellsworth Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Ellsworth, OH.  Fellowship and lunch to follow at the Ellsworth Fire Hall, 6036 S Salem-Warren Rd, North Jackson, OH 44451.
